Curriculum & Instruction
Dear UFRSD Community,
One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feelings. The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, but warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child. Carl Jung.
Much like Carl Jung expresses, the teachers with their genuine care and concern for our students, engage the students, teach in various ways to reach all students, making the curriculum come alive.
As our mission states, our curriculum creates a curious learner, a nurtured learner, rooted, and able to use their wings to contribute to society. Each student is successful in their own way, using their own strengths to make an impact.
Please use the resources/links on this page to understand the curriculum of the Upper Freehold Regional School District.
Parents
For parents, these pages should serve as a vehicle for both information and input. Visit our Curriculum and Instruction links to the left to read about the many things happening within the UFRSD. Additionally, you can access our curriculum maps by clicking on Curriculum Information.
As Ernest Boyer wrote in The Basic School, "parents are a child's first and most essential teachers." We value your input. If at any time you have questions or comments about the curriculum and how it is being taught, please feel free to contact me by phone or email.
Staff
Teachers may find the Curriculum Overview useful for exploring the content taught by their colleagues at different grade levels or in different departments. The Teacher Resource page represents an attempt to compile those documents and weblinks most useful to our staff. Feel free to explore them and to email me with others you think might be helpful to your colleagues.
Students
The Student Resources on this site are a selection of those available on the websites at each individual school. I encourage you to use them to reinforce what you are learning, to explore new ideas, and to support you in your research. All that we do in this district is designed to foster your curiosity, creativity, and competency as learners. If you have suggestions for more we can be doing, please feel free to let me know.
I am truly honored to be serving as the assistant superintendent in a district so committed to the crafting of high quality curriculum and to the implementation of instruction based on recognized best practice. Most of all, I am honored to be serving in a district so committed to developing the mind and character of each individual student.
I look forward to working with parents, staff, and students, and I appreciate your patience and your input as we continually add to the content of this website.
Sincerely,
Patrick Leary
